I’ve always had difficulty going to sleep at night, so I’d make up stories to help me doze off. Then, when my younger sister and I shared a room, she’d ask me to tell her stories and I couldn’t resist! As a kid, I’d write stories during the long hot summer months and dreamed of becoming a writer someday. Reality set in when, as an adult, I had bills to pay, so I became a teacher and sold a few short stories on the side. After I married and had two children of my own, Aglow Publications published my first book, When Love is Not Perfect, a book for adults about recovering from the effects of abuse. My real passion, however, is writing middle grade and young adult historical fiction.
Before writing full-time, I taught middle school for 16 years, and I can still say that middle school students are the best! I have a B.A. in social science, an M.A. in Instructional Technology, and a Ph.D, in Instructional Design for Online Learning.
